tofu and brown rice

Read about this combo being very healthy. recipe from


1/2 lb. extra firm tofu or bean curd
1/3 c. uncooked brown rice
1/2 tbsp. olive oil
1 sm. slice fresh ginger root
1 tsp. black bean sauce
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
Pinch of Five Spice Powder
Dash of salt
Dash of pepper

Place brown rice in a small pan with 2/3 cup water. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low and cover. Let cook about 20 minutes or until all water has been absorbed; set aside. Place olive oil and ginger root in a frying pan or Wok. Heat on medium. Cut tofu into 1/2 inch squares. Remove ginger root and add tofu. Stir fry for 3 or 4 minutes. Add garlic powder, black bean sauce and Five Spice as you stir fry. Add salt and pepper and remove from heat. Serve tofu over the brown rice.
